Diving Tangalooma Wrecks, off Moreton Island, Brisbane Australia

The upside of fully remote

I was working fully remote for an Australian company Octopus Deploy, and once in a while they'd bring teams together someplace for a taste of co-location, and you could take a personal day before or after if you wanted.

Which sounds to me like a golden invitation to go diving!

Three colleagues were keen, after looking at the options we settled on Tangalooma Resort, on Moreton Island, a large sand island about an hour's ferry ride off the coast of Brisbane, Australia.

Decades back, the resort sank a bunch of boats just off the beach, shallow enough for snorkellers, but deep enough to dive. That site is now called Tangalooma Wrecks and is a pretty cool place to visit.

The four of us Octonauts spent a day out there, kayaking, relaxing, and diving. Visibility was OK, maybe 5 metres, the water was colder than I expected, around 23 degrees, but still it was a great day out in a lovely place.

I took the opportunity to test my new DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro action camera and it did not disappoint!
